If you have looked at a lot of Internet sites, you have probably encountered some error message from time to time. An error may take place in case the web hosting server cannot process a request (Error 400), if you need to log in so as to see some content and you haven't done so (Error 401), if you aren't allowed to access some webpage (Error 403) or when a link leads to a file which is not on the hosting server (Error 404). Encountering this type of messages could sometimes be annoying since the pages don't have anything in common with the actual website. That’s why some hosting providers permit you to use your own error pages which will match the style of your own Internet site and which can have any content which you'd like - info why the error has occurred, a suggestion what you can do or even some witty remark. Such a feature can help you keep the visitor on the website no matter the error or the reason for it.
Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting
You shall be able to set up custom error pages for all of your domains or subdomains. The feature is supported by all shared hosting solutions which we provide, so as soon as you log in to your Hepsia CP and check out the Hosted Domains section, you can click on the Edit button for a domain/subdomain and in the pop-up that"ll be displayed, you can choose the kind of error page which should appear - a default one from our system, a standard Apache server page or a customized one. For the latter option, you need to assign the URL to the page, so if you use personalized pages, you have to upload the files in your web hosting account first. One other way is to use an .htaccess file positioned in the domain or subdomain folder with a line for each error type. The exact syntax can be located in our Knowledge Base, so you can use this feature even if you do not have any previous experience.
Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
All semi-dedicated hosting services which we supply support personalized error pages and it will not take more than a few mouse clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel in which you will have to input the links to the custom-made files through basic drop-down menus and a time and effort saving interface. Of course, you must upload them to your account before that. In case you don't need to use this function at some point, you can easily deactivate it just as fast and choose an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable when your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you may also use an .htaccess file to activate the customized error pages. The file should include a specific line of code as well as a link for every single error type and you can easily discover an example of the whole content for all four error types in our Help section.
