An Operating System is the fundamental software which manages a computer. It takes care of the way the hardware behaves, the communication with peripherals including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between various applications, as well as the prioritization of applications if multiple ones run at the same time. Each program that's installed on a computer functions by sending requests to the OS for various services via an application program interface (API). The contact with the OS can be achieved using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting world, the OS is what commands a web server and all of the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but, in addition every other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. When there're virtual machines created, they use a guest OS which runs on the server host OS.
Multiple OS in VPS
Our virtual private server packages come with three Linux releases which you may choose from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Apart from being cost-free, the OSs are really stable and risk-free and the reason to offer the 3 of them is to ensure that you'll be able to run any app that you would like, as different pieces of software could have different requirements when it comes to the environment they can be used on. Each one of the three OSs is supported by a huge community of web developers who have created a large number of software packages that you can install and use on your VPS. Based on the Operating System that you select, you will also be able to choose between three different Control Panels to control your hosting content. Of course, in case you decide that you need another OS, we could always re-install the server with it. As an additional upgrade, we also offer weekly updates of the Operating System for max stability and security.
Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting
The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to select from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they are also regarded as the most stable and risk-free OSs. We offer three different ones as each one of them is supported by a different community. The packages which you can add on your server are different and this may matter if you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the web hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server is also determined by the Operating System that you will choose. You may choose any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order process, but if necessary, we can always install the server once again with another one upon your request. As an additional service that you could add to the plan whenever you want, we can update your OS on a regular basis to keep it as risk-free as possible.
